VA-115 (U.S. Navy)

Two A-6E TRAM Intruders of the VA-115 Eagles, sometime between 1980 and 1982. The squadron was deployed aboard USS Midway (CV-41) during that time.

VA-115 was an Attack Squadron of the U.S. Navy. It was established as Torpedo Squadron VT-11 on 10 October 1942, redesignated VA-12A on 15 November 1946, and finally as VA-115 on 15 July 1948.[1] The squadron ultimately became VFA-115.

The squadron's nickname was the Arabs from the 1950s–1979, and the Eagles from 1979–present. During their deployment to the Indian Ocean in 1989, they temporarily changed their nickname back to Arabs to enhance the esprit de corps while operating in the Arabian Sea.[1]
