Vall d'Albaida (Valencian pronunciation: [ˈvaʎ dalˈbajða], Spanish: Valle de Albaida) is a comarca in the province of Valencia, Valencian Community, Spain, of some 722 square kilometers and some 90,000 inhabitants around the year 2008 at some 70 km of the city of Valencia . Reconquered by the Aragonese king James I of Aragon in the first middle of the 13th Century to the Spanish Moors it was heavily populated by Muslim descendants, till they were confronted in the 17th Century (1610) with either leaving the country or becoming compulsorily baptized and practicing fully as new Christians.
