Veronika Vitenberg (Russian: Вероника Витенберг; Hebrew: ורוניקה ויטנברג; born September 9, 1988 in Hrodna, Belarus) is an Israeli Rhythmic Gymnast and Olympic Finalist.
Vitenberg made history when she won 6th place at the finals on behalf of Israel at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, as a part of the Israeli National Rhythmic Gymnastic Team.[1]
Biography
Vitenberg is Jewish,[2] and was born in Grodno, Belarus. She started rhythmic gymnastics at age 6 in Belarus, after her school teacher encouraged her to enroll because of her high inborn flexibility. In her young teens at the age of 13, she immigrated to Israel.
As of 2008, listed as number 4 best gymnast in Israel.
Personal life
Vitenberg served in the Israel Defense Forces between 2007 and 2010, she received an "Athlete of Excellence" status, allowing her to continue her trainings. She went through recruit training in the Nitzanim base and then served full service in the HaKirya base in Tel-Aviv.
Since 2009 she began to study for a B.A. degree in Business Management at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya.[3]
