Vicki Viidikas

Vicki Viidikas (25 September 1948 27 November 1998) was a twentieth-century Australian poet and prose writer.

Vicki Viidikas was born and grew up in Sydney, Australia. Her mother was Anglo-Australian, father Estonian.[1][2] Dropping out of school, she encountered the Balmain New South Wales poetry scene in the late 1960s. There she encountered, among others, Ken Bolton, John Forbes, Martin Johnston and John Tranter. The ‘counter culture’ and her travels in Asia, especially India, are recurrent subjects in her poetry. Her untimely death was much mourned in Australia's poetry community.
