Viralukketha Veekkam is a 1999 Tamil comedy film directed by V. Sekhar. The film features Livingston, Vadivelu, Vivek, Kushboo, Kovai Sarala and Kanaka in lead roles. The film, produced by S. S. Durairaju and K. Parthiban, had musical score by Deva and was released on 16 July 1999 to mixed reviews and became successful at box-office.[1][2][3][4]
Plot
Sivashankar (Livingston), Kabali (Vadivelu) and Ramanathan (Vivek) work as laborers in a car company. They are married to Suguna (Kushboo), Ranjitham (Kovai Sarala) and Malu (Kanaka) decide to work. . Gayathri (Urvashi), a supervisor, moves into a new house near their house with her kind-hearted husband (Nassar). The trio big time are spendthrifts and spend most of their monthly earnings on alcohol, lottery tickets and other unnecessary ways . Their wives always find it impossible to make the ends meet .
Apart from being spendthrifts, they are often seen borrowing money form the office peon, who in turn is a thug and is known for his ruthless approach towards recovering his money from hid debtors . The husbands are not impressed with the newly moved gayathri and her husband, as they lead their lives in a well planned financial manner. Upon seeing this , the wives make up their mind to work and thus , request gayathri to recommend a job for them in the same company. However , the husbands disapprove of this move , as they feel that the wives should depend on them , in all aspects and ridicule their ideas.In Parallel , they were promised a yearly bonus of pay , in their workplace , which was ultimately denied to them.To voice their anger , the trio threaten the Owner of the company , which leads to their dismissal.
Kabali decides to approach his childhood friend Karupaiah , who is a wealthy merchant in Bangalore. Karupaiah warmly welcomes the friends , and decides to give them a partnership in his business with a pay they never thought off.Little do they know that his business is all about smuggling drugs and hence a police raid leads to the trio being battered and bruised.
In the meantime , the peon creates a ruckus at the homes of the trio and reveals to the wives the details of the debts . To make up for their husband's financial catastrophe , the wives decide to work . The husbands are infuriated at this and this leads to misunderstanding among each couple. After a series of controversies, the wives are kicked out of their houses and are given shelter by the kind hearted gayathri and her husband . To settle scores with their wives , the trio find another job in another company ,whose owner happens to be the same owner of the company in which their wives work in . To sympathize the boss, the men lie to him , saying that their wives are bedridden and kabali goes to the level of telling his boss that his wife his dead. Upon learning the truth, the boss dismisses them from work .
Meanwhile , Sankara's younger daughter is down with a heart defect and is in need of immediate treatment. With no help , the trio finally approach karupaiah .He makes a deal , according to which sivashankar must smuggle Ganja for his money . In the process they are caught and put behind bars , and beaten by the police.Ultimately , they regularize their follies and the wives bail them out , hoping that they would lead a more responsible and a happy life .
