Watanga Football Club was founded on December 24, 1997 at Watanga base just outside Monrovia. After the first civil war that ended in 1996 Former ex-combating of the rebel movement with nothing to do decided to make themselves useful to the society. They form the Watanga FC name after the camp they reside "Camp Watanga". the current president of the Liberia Football Association, Musa Bility is from Watanga FC. Watanga FC was a finalist in the LFA Cup in October 7, 2012.
Watanga current president, Dee-Maxwell S. Kemayah is also the president of the Liberia Business Association.
