Waterford Whispers News
Waterford Whispers News is a popular Irish satirical news website, based in Waterford.
History
The website started as a facebook page.[1] The name is a reference to the game Chinese whispers.[2]
The site gained notoriety when one of its articles regarding a stampede in a Lidl shop was mistaken by a German magazine as genuine[3]
In August 2015 Waterford Whispers received a cease and desist letter to take down a satirical article written about well-known Irish business magnate Denis O'Brien claiming that he was prosecuted for bribery in a parallel universe[4]
