West High School is a Public school high school located in Bakersfield, California. The school serves about 2500 students in grades 9 to 12 in the Kern High School District. Total student enrollment is 2,525.
History
West High was built in 1965. It was twice named a California Distinguished School, 1986 and 1996. West High teacher Danny Arretche was recognized as Teacher of the Year during the 2006-2007 school year. He currently teaches CP Biology, GATE Biology, and AP Environmental Science.
Activities
The school mascot is the Vikings. There are more than 50 clubs and activity programs, and there are more than 300 student athletes competing in 32 athletic teams on campus. Award winning NJROTC and Music Program.
