William Beck (businessman)
William “Skipper” Beck (1960 – September 11, 2009) was an American businessman and the co-owner of the NBA basketball team, the Charlotte Bobcats.
On September 11, 2009, Beck was flying by himself in a Cirrus SR22 when it crashed at Rock Hill/York County Airport in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Beck had taken off from the airport and shortly into the flight attempted to return to it, but nose-dived into the taxiway, after which the plane caught fire. Beck died instantly in the crash.[1][2][3] He had previously flown from New Jersey to Rock Hill that week.
