Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Corp. (WISCO) (武汉钢铁(集团)公司 pinyin: Wǔhàn Gāngtiě(Jítuán) Gōngsī) was founded in 1958 in Qingshan, Wuhan, Hubei, China.[1] It was China's first supergiant iron and steel complex. History

Its subsidiary, Wuhan Iron and Steel Company Limited (SSE: 600005), was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 1999.

In September 2012 Wuhan Iron and Steel agreed to acquire the automotive components manufacturer Tailored Blanks from ThyssenKrupp for an undisclosed price.[2] At the time of the agreement Tailored Blanks had annual sales of around 700 million euros and a global market share of about 40 percent in automotive laser-welded blanks.[2]

Its executive chairman, Deng Qilin, was investigated for corruption in 2015. WISCO announced layoffs of some 11,000 in late 2015.[3]
