Youri Tielemans (born 7 May 1997) is a Belgian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Anderlecht. Tielemans became the youngest Belgian player to play in the UEFA Champions League, making his Champions League debut at the age of 16 years and 148 days. He is considered one of the brightest young prospects in world football.[1]

Club career

Anderlecht

He is a product of the RSC Anderlecht academy and signed his first professional contract with the club aged 16.[2] On 28 July 2013, he made his first-team debut in a Belgian Pro League match against Lokeren. On 2 October, he became the youngest Belgian player to play in the UEFA Champions League, starting in a match against Olympiacos at the age of 16 years and 148 days.[3]

International career

In June 2015 Tielemans was called up to the senior Belgium squad for a UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier against Wales.[4]

Personal life

He has a Belgian father and a mother with Congolese roots.[5]
