"Zakāt" on Livestock or cattle ( N .) Al-An'am Arabic: زكاة الأنعام [1]

Zakat literally means "to be clear, to grow, to increase, Allah has prescribed Zakat as an obligatory charity, as a duty to Allah, upon every wealthy individual.[2][3] Wealthy individual is defined as one who is in possession of a minimum amount of wealth called Nisab for an entire year. This charity is prescribed in order to cleanse the individual's wealth, heart, and by extension the society in general, of the baser characteristics of miserliness, selfishness, greed, and materialism and replace them with higher qualities of generosity, love and care, and mutual help. [4] Zakah is obligatory in, sheep, cows and camels.

Conditions for Zakah becoming Obligatory

With a number of conditions, Zakah becomes obligatory:

Zakât on Livestock

Livestock or Al-An'am in Quran:

they set aside for Allah a share of what he has created of tilth and cattle saying: 'this is for Allah so they claim and this for our associates (gods). ' the share of their associates never reaches Allah, but the share of Allah reaches their associates. how evil they judge! (136) Surat Al-An'am [6]

that they witness profitable things for them and mention the name of Allah on well known days over the flocks which he has provided them. eat thereof, and feed the wretched poor. (28) Surat Al-Hajj [7]

and the cattle he created for you. in them, you have warmth and other uses, and of them you eat. (5) Surat An-Nahl [8]

Livestock In Hadith: Narrated Abu Dhar: Once I went to him (the Prophet ) and he said, "By Allah in Whose Hands my life is (or probably said, 'By Allah, except Whom none has the right to be worshipped), whoever had camels or cows or sheep and did not pay their Zakat, those animals will be brought on the Day of Resurrection far bigger and fatter than before and they will tread him under their hooves, and will butt him with their horns, and (those animals will come in circle): When the last does its turn, the first will start again, and this punishment will go on till Allah has finished the judgments amongst the people." (Bukhari, Vol.2, Book 24, No. 539)[9]

Grazing camels, grazing cows and grazing sheep and goats are eligible for Zakat payment. Each category of the above-mentioned livestock animals has a set Nisab amount based upon the number of animals owned.

Thus, what has increased in every thirty 1- One-year-old calf (Male or Female), and every forty 1- Two-year-old Cow-Calf (Female).

There is no zakat on sheep and goats until their number reaches forty. [Neither male or female is specified].
