Season 1912–13 was the 36th Scottish football season in which Dumbarton competed at national level, entering the Scottish Football League for the 14th time, the Scottish Cup for the 30th time and the Scottish Qualifying Cup for the 11th time.

Overview

Dumbarton finished 6th in the Second Division with 29 points, 5 behind champions Ayr United.[1] Nevertheless, due in part to the expansion of the First Division from 18 to 20 clubs, both Ayr and Dumbarton were elected to the 'top flight'.

Dumbarton qualified for the Scottish Cup by reaching the semi final of the Scottish Qualifying Cup before losing to non-league Nithsdale Wanderers.

The Scottish Cup campaign saw Dumbarton disposing of First Division opponents before losing to eventual champions Falkirk in the fourth round.

Once again Dumbarton did not enter the Dumbartonshire Cup.

During the season, there were also 3 'friendly' matches played, winning 1, drawing 1 and losing 1, scoring 4 goals and conceding 4.
