1986 was the 26th year of season play for the Minnesota Vikings and the 67th regular season of the National Football League. The Vikings finished with a record of nine wins and seven losses.
After the sudden retirement of Bud Grant in the off-season, the Vikings hired Jerry Burns to be their head coach for the upcoming season.
