The 1989–90 Detroit Red Wings season was the Red Wings' 58th season, the franchise's 64th. The season involved drafting Sergei Fedorov and Nicklas Lidstrom. It was also the last season in which the Wings would miss the playoffs. As of the end of the 2015-16 season, they have made the playoffs every year since 1991.
