Season
After his previous disappointing season, Inter gave his bench to Héctor Cúper. Cúper came from two years in Valencia, where he lost two Champions League finals in row. The transfers campaign brought in Francesco Toldo, Marco Materazzi, Emre Belözoğlu and Mohamed Kallon.
During the first half of Serie A, Inter got the first place for several times despite losses against Milan[1] and Chievo Verona.[2] Finally, at the rising of spring, they beaten reigning champion of Roma by 3–1 with six rounds left.[3] However, Cúper's side was not able to grow on his reaching: before the last game in Rome, on Lazio's pitch, Inter had still one point over Juventus and two over Roma. The fixture disappointed every hope, as Inter suffered a 4–2 loss: due to his defeat, it fell down to third place.[4]
Inter also managed to be semi-finalist in UEFA Cup, knocked out by Feyenoord.[5]
