The 2014 FA Selangor season was Mehmet Durakovic's first season as manager of the team. He replaced the interim manager, P. Maniam, who in turn had been serving in that capacity after Irfan Bakti Abu Salim resigned in 2013.

A total of 12 teams will compete in the 2014 season. These teams are made up of the top 10 teams that participated in the 2013 season as well as the champions and runners-up of the 2013 Malaysia Premier League.

FELDA United FC and Negeri Sembilan FA were relegated at the end of the 2013 Malaysia Super League season after finishing in the bottom two positions of the standings. They were replaced by 2013 Malaysia Premier League unbeaten champions Sarawak and runners-up Sime Darby FC.
