The 201516 South African Premier Division season (known as the ABSA Premiership for sponsorship reasons) is the 19th season of the Premier Soccer League since its establishment in 1996.

Kaizer Chiefs are the defending champions, having won the previous 2014–15 South African Premier Division (PSL) season for their fourth league title, all in the past 12 years. Golden Arrows and Jomo Cosmos each returned to the Premiership after placing first and second, respectively, in the 2014-15 National First Division. Jomo Cosmos was promoted after beating Black Leopards and Moroka Swallows in the Playoff Tournament. Additionally, AmaZulu was relegated after placing last in the 2014–15 South African Premier Division.
