The 2016 Myanmar National League is the 7th season of the Myanmar National League, the top Burmese professional league for association football clubs.Transfer period is from 1 Nov 2015 to 8 Jan 2016.

Yangon United came in as the champions of the 2015 Myanmar National League. Southern Myanmar and Horizon entered as the two promoted teams from the 2015 Myanmar National League 2. Horizon FC promoted to MNL for first time.

2016 MNL Ooredoo half-season is completely finished. Second half-season will start on May 21. The transfer period for half-season will start from Apirl 18 to May 17.

First Half-season Review

Before Half-season, Yadanarbon still leading 2016 MNL Ooredoo title with 29 marks and Hantharwady United got 21 marks in Second place. In Third place, Ayeyawady United got 20 marks. Current MNL champion, Yangon United got 19 marks and still in Fourth place.


Events

This season will be the first Myanmar National League season to have Ooredoo as the title sponsor, after penning a deal worth US $1.5 million per year on 20 March 2015.

Teams

A total of 12 teams will compete in the league: 10 sides from the 2015 season and two promoted teams from the 2015 Myanmar National League 2.

Manaw Myay and Nay Pyi Taw were relegated to the 2016 MNL-2 after finishing the 2015 season. They were replaced by the best two teams from the 2015 MNL-2 champions Southern Myanmar and runners-up Horizon.
