A.F.C. Hayes are a non-league English football club based in Hayes, Greater London, and founded in 1974. The club was known until 2007 as Brook House F.C. and they currently play in the Combined Counties League Premier Division.

History

Brook House was formed in 1974 as a pub team for the pub of the same name and first played in the Hayes and District Sunday League Division 7.[1] In 1982, another local team, Grange FC, relocated to Brook House's recently acquired Park Farm ground and were reborn as the Brook House FC Saturday team, playing in the South West Middlesex League.

By 1984 the first team became founder members of the Middlesex County Football League where they remained until 1988, when they joined the London Spartan League, stepping up to its Premier Division the following year. In 1992 floodlights were erected at Park Farm for the first time and officially opened with a friendly against Chelsea, for whom former Brook House player Neil Shipperley scored a hat-trick in a 5–1 win. Shipperley's father Dave had also managed Brook during the 1990s.

In 2004 the club were promoted to the Isthmian League Division Two, where they achieved two third-place finishes before league restructuring saw them moved into the Southern League in 2006. In 2007 the club changed its name to A.F.C. Hayes, at the same time that a better known Hayes club was disbanded upon a merger with Yeading to create Hayes & Yeading United.

Ian Crane arrived from Harefield United to replace Danny Vincent in June 2012 who had resigned. However, with the club rooted to the bottom of the Southern League Division One Central, Crane tendered his resignation on 28 December 2014.[2]

Chairman Barry Stone moved quickly to replace Crane appointing ex North Greenford United manager Paul Palmer on 29 December 2014.[3]

Palmer was unable to keep A.F.C. Hayes in the Southern Football League, with the club's eleven-year stay at Step 4 coming to an end on 11 April 2015 despite a 1-0 home win against Rugby Town, as Beaconsfield SYCOB's 1-1 draw with Aylesbury was enough to send them down.

Following relegation in 2015, the club will play in the Combined Counties League Premier Division.[4] After a poor start to the new season, Palmer and his coaching staff left the club in November 2015, with ex AFC Hayes player Sean Berry replacing him.[5]
