Al Muthabara Cup

Al Muthabara Cup (also known as Iraqi Super Cup) is an Iraqi football cup contested by Iraqi club teams. It is contested by the winners of the Iraqi Premier League and Iraq FA Cup at the end of each season. If the same club wins both competitions, it is competed by the 1st place team and the 2nd place team in the Iraqi Premier League for that season. In fact, this has surprisingly been the case for five out of the six editions of the competition with the exception being in 1998 when Al-Shorta won the Iraqi League.[1] The first edition was held in 1997, with the final edition in 2002. The tournament has been resurrected for 2016.
