Aleksandrit class minesweeper (Project 12700) is a new Russian minesweeper class being constructed for the Russian navy. The first ship was laid down on September 22, 2011 and was launched in June 2014. A total of 4 ships are planned to be constructed.
The ship's hull is made of monolithic fiberglass and shaped by vacuum infusion which gives it advantage in minesweeping.
According to the shipyard's representatives the first ship's hull was shaped within 1.5 days, making it a world record.[2]
