The 2000 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 114th edition of the GAA's premier gaelic football competition. It was played between May and October, 2000. This was the final year that the provincial knockout format was used before the qualifier system was introduced in 2001. The final, between Kerry and Galway, went to a replay for the first time since the 1996 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final. Kerry claimed their 32nd All-Ireland football title with 0-17 to 1-10 victory in the replay.[1]

Format

The Ulster, Munster and Connacht championships were conducted as straight knock-out competitions. The Leinster championship consisted of a round robin format between Wicklow, Wexford, Longford and Carlow to determine the 8th team to play in the Leinster quarter finals. The winners of each provincial competition went on to play in the All Ireland semi-finals.
