Allan Read

Alan Alexander Read (19 September 1923 – 15 November 2003[1]) was the Anglican Bishop of Ontario [2] from 1981 until 1992.[3]

He was educated at Trinity College, Toronto and ordained Deacon in 1948; and Priest in 1949.[4] He was the i ncumbent at Mono Mills, Ontario then Rector of Barrie. He was Archdeacon of Simcoe from 1961 to 1972; and Suffragan Bishop of Toronto from then until his appointment as a Diocesan.

During his time as bishop and after, Reid was criticised for alleged corruption at St. George's Cathedral and child abuse at the former Anglican boarding school in the Diocese, Grenville Christian College. The Anglican Diocese of Ontario has been the subject of several child abuse lawsuits and a criminal trial over the years. Corruption in the Diocese' hierarchy has been alleged. One of Canada's national networks, CTV, aired a documentary film about the abuse on the W5 programme called "In the Name of God", which was released on February 6, 2016 to coincided with the launch of the book, "Grenville", by Andrew J.
