Peter Mason (bishop)

Peter Ralph Mason (born 30 April 1943) was the Anglican Bishop of Ontario[1] from 1992 until 2002.[2]

He was educated at McGill University and ordained Deacon in 1967; and Priest in 1968.[3] After a curacy at Hampstead, Quebec he held incumbencies at Hemmingford, Verdun and Halifax. He was the Principal of Wycliffe College, Toronto from 1985 until his elevation to the Episcopate.

During his time as bishop, Mason has been alleged to have been a party to a cover-up of serious child abuse within the Anglican Diocese of Ontario. The Diocese has been the subject of several child abuse lawsuits and a criminal trial over the years. Corruption in the Diocese' hierarchy has been alleged. One of Canada's national networks, CTV, aired a documentary film about the abuse on the W5 programme called "In the Name of God", which was released on February 6, 2016 to coincided with the launch of the book, "Grenville", by Andrew J. Hale-Byrne. "[4] "[5] "[6] "[7] "[8]
