Critical reviews

"Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean Winchester" received critical acclaim. Diana Steenbergen of IGN gave the episode an "amazing" 9.0 out of 10 and wrote, "True to the title, there is some discussion about God after the revelation last week that Dean was rescued from hell by the angel Castiel, on God's orders. Dean and Sam both react to this knowledge how you would expect, based on what we already know each of them is and is not willing to believe. In addition, Dean has some questions about God that have been pondered by theologians and philosophers for centuries. These are not lightweight topics and I don't know that there will be any solid answers forthcoming. When Castiel has a chance to speak with Dean he directs him to look at the bigger picture. Meanwhile, the show's bigger picture is peppered with a pinch of the Bible thrown into the blender with Supernatural's own mythology."[3]
