Azerbaijanis in Turkmenistan
Azerbaijanis in Turkmenistan (Azerbaijani: Türkmənistan azərbaycanlıları) are a Azerbaijani diaspora in Turkmenistan, and are Turkmen citizens and permanent residents of ethnic Azerbaijani background. Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan took through centuries and both countries used to be the part of Russian Empire and then Soviet Union. As of 1989, there were 33,365 Azerbaijanis in Turkmenistan.[1]
