The Azores Regional Election (2016) (Portuguese: Eleições Regionais dos Açores, 2016) will be held in October of the same year. In this election the current president of government, led by the Socialist Vasco Cordeiro, will be seeking a second term.

Electoral system

The Azores regional parliament elects 57 members by a proportional system in which the 9 island elect a number of MP's proportional with the number of registered voters. MP's are allocated by using the d'Hondt method. There's also 5 members that are elected in a Compensation district.
