Bangladesh–Papua New Guinea relations refer to the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were officially started in 1981.[1]

Social development

Papua New Guinea has sought Bangladesh's assistance in implementing similar microfinance programs that are prevalent in Bangladesh for reducing poverty and creating employment.[1]

Economic cooperation

Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea have emphasized expanding the bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries and they are working towards it.[2][3] Bangladeshi ready made garments and pharmaceuticals have been identified as products with huge potential in Papua New Guinea.[4][5] Papua New Guinea has also shown interest in taking laborers from Bangladesh, mainly in the fields of gas exploration and construction work. The country is also interested in recruiting Bangladeshi college and university teachers.[6]
