Barhampur subdivision is a subdivision of the Murshidabad district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of Baharampur municipality, Beldanga municipality, and five community development blocks: Berhampore, BeldangaI, BeldangaII, Hariharpara and Naoda. The five blocks contain 61 gram panchayats and three census towns. The subdivision has its headquarters at Baharampur.

Area

Apart from the Baharampur municipality and Beldanga municipality, the subdivision contains three census towns and rural areas of 61 gram panchayats under five community development blocks: Berhampore, BeldangaI, BeldangaII, Hariharpara and Naoda.[1] The three census towns are: Kasimbazar, Goaljan and Gora Bazar.[2]

Blocks

Berhampore block

Rural area under Berhampore block consists of 17 gram panchayats, viz. BhakuriI, Haridasmati, Niyallispara Goaljan, Rangamati Chandpara, BhakuriII, Hatinagar, RadharghatII, Chhaighari, Madanpur, RadharghatI, Satui Chaurigachha, Daulatabad, Manindranagar, Rajdharpara, Gurudaspur, Naodapanur and Sahajadpur.[1] Urban area under this block consists of three census towns: Kasimbazar, Goaljan and Gora Bazar.[2] Berhampore Town and Daulatabad police stations serve this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Berhampore.[4]

BeldangaI block

Rural area under BeldangaI block consists of 13 gram panchayats, viz. Begunbari, ChaitannapurII, MahulaI, SujapurKumarpur, BhabtaI, Debkundu, MahulaII, BhabtaII, Kapasdanga, MirjapurI, ChaitannapurI, Madda and MirjapurII.[1] There is no urban area under this block.[2] Beldanga police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Beldanga.[4]

BeldangaII block

Rural area under BeldangaII block consists of 11 gram panchayats, viz. AndulberiaI, Kashipur, RamparaII, AndulberiaII, Ramnagar Bachhra, Shaktipur, Dadpur, SomeparaI, Kamnagar, RamparaI and SomeparaII.[1] There is no urban area under this block.[2] Rejinagar police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Shaktipur.[4]

Hariharpara block

Rural area under Hariharpara block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Beharia, Hariharpara, Malopara, Swaruppur, Choa, Humaipur, Raipur, Dharampur, Khidirpur and Rukunpur.[1] There is no urban area under this block.[2] Hariharpara police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Hariharpara.[4]

Naoda block

Rural area under Naoda block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. BaliI, KedarchandpurI, Naoda, Sarangpur, BaliII, KedarchandpurII, Patikabari, Chandpur, Madhupur and Raipur.[1] There is no urban area under this block.[2] Naoda police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Amtala.[4]

Legislative segments

As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in West Bengal, four gram panchayats under the Baharampur block, viz. Niyallispara Goaljan, RadharghatI, RadharghatII and Sahajadpur will be part of the Nabagram assembly constituency of West Bengal. The Satui Chaurigachha gram panchayat under the Baharampur block will be part of Kandi assembly constituency. The gram panchayats of Begunbari, Kapasdanga and MirjapurI under the BeldangaI block along with the area under the BeldangaII block will constitute the Rejinagar assembly constituency. Six gram panchayats under BeldangaI block, viz. BhabtaI, BhabtaII, Debkundu, MirjapurII, MahulaI and SujapurKumarpur, along with the Beldanga municipality and five gram panchayats under the Baharampur block, viz. BhakuriII, Haridasmati, Naodapanur, Rajdharpara and Rangamati Chandpara, together will form the Beldanga assembly constituency. The Baharampur municipality along with five gram panchayats under the Baharampur block, viz. BhakuriI, Daulatabad, Gurudaspur, Hatinagar and Manindranagar, will form the Baharampur assembly constituency. The Hariharpara block along with two gram panchayats under the Baharampur block, viz. Chhaighari and Madanpur, will form the Hariharpara assembly constituency. The Naoda block along with four gram panchayats under the BeldangaI block, viz. ChaitannapurII, MahulaII, ChaitannapurI and Madda, will form the Naoda assembly constituency. Nabagram constituency will be reserved for Scheduled castes (SC) candidates. This constituency will be part of the Jangipur (Lok Sabha constituency). Kandi, Rejinagar, Beldanga, Baharampur and Naoda will be assembly segments of the Baharampur (Lok Sabha constituency). Hariharpara assembly constituency will be part of the Murshidabad (Lok Sabha constituency).[5]
