Barry Smyth (1973, Keady, County Armagh) is an Irish former head chef and restaurant owner. He was the owner of the Michelin starred restaurant The Oriel in Gilford, County Down, Northern Ireland.[3] Smyth is nowadays working as a teacher at the catering department of the South Regional College in Newry.[4][5]
During his career Smyth worked in senior positions in several well-known restaurants, amongst other in Roscoff Restaurant (Belfast), Antica Roma Restaurant (Belfast) and Kilkea Castle Hotel (Castledermot, County Kildare). He is best known for his own restaurant "The Oriel" where he earned Micheling stars in 2004 en 2005.[6]
In 2010 and 2011 Smyth acted as culinary director at the Belfast Taste & Music Fest.[7][8]
