Battagram is a town and union council of Charsadda District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.[1] It is located at 34°13'7N 71°37'33E and has an altitude of 300 meters (987 feet).[2]
It is located about 5 km from Shabqadar. The people of the town are very friendly. They are pushthoons and they love each other. Their marriage ceremonies are full of brotherhood. When there is a death, all the people get together they perform funeral.
Battagram is very famous for its Police station which is one of the oldest police station in the locality. Moreover, it has a Government School (Government High School, Battagram) of Secondary level, post office a very huge graveyard and a Hospital. It has several government primary schools. It has several Jumma Masjids.
There are several private schools. Recently, a School named Dar Ul Ilm Educational Academy (D.I.E.A) has been opened near police station Battagram. Dr. Engr. Tayyab Naqash is the director of the School who had PhD in Structural engineering. He remain the chairperson of Civil Engineering Department at Iqra National University.
Battagram is also famous for its sugar cane, vegetables, wheat, fruits. The people of the town are well educated. It has a small bazaar where you can find few restaurants. It is also very famous for chappel kabab, fresh juices and fried fish.
River Kabul which is quite close to the town is a very famous picnic spot. People from different villages play volley ball along the river sides. Most of the people come to the river side to have BBQ by spending some good time together. In summer time you can find a lot of people swimming in the river. Besides the central graveyard there are so many playgrounds where people from different villages use to come to play cricket. The Government High School has also playground specially for volleyball where the villagers play volleyball in the evening.
The recently built bridge over the river Kabul near Sreekh (a village in Battagram Union Council) has increased the importance of the town. Also the road network of the town is quite good. Telecom network is also quite good in the area. PTCL DSL line also exist in the town. Moreover, it has gas pipeline as well. It has a very good irrigation system.
Battagram has produced some great people, serving in Public and Private departments, Army, Police, Banks, Institutes despite its a bit backward with conventional educational system.
