beIN Sports is a Canadian exempt English language Category B specialty channel that airs international sports content. beIN Sports primarily airs top level football, featuring exclusive coverage of La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A and The Football League along with content from other leagues in Europe. In addition, it airs matches from such sports as Rugby, Auto racing, Handball, Motorcycle racing, Tennis and Volleyball.

History

On December 18, 2013, Ethnic Channels Group announced that it had entered into a strategic and exclusive partnership with beIN Sports and Al Jazeera Media Network to launch the service in Canada.[1] The agreement involves the launch of two channels, an English language service and a Spanish-language service. beIN Sports en Español launched in 2015.

On January 31, 2014, beIN Sports Canada officially launched in Canada on MTS. On March 6, 2014, beIN Sport HD became available on Rogers Cable on channel 391 [2] and on Bell Satellite & Fibe on channel 1412. [3]

On December 19, 2014, it was announced that beIN Sports Canada had sub-licensed rights to the UEFA Champions League and Europa League in conjunction with Bell Media and TSN, beginning in 2015.[4] These events were previously broadcast by Sportsnet and Sportsnet World.
