Bihar Legislative Assembly election, 1957

Elections to the Bihar Legislative Assembly were held on February 25, 1957. 1393 candidates contested for the 264 constituencies in the Assembly. There were 54 two-member constituencies and 210 single-member constituencies. [1]

State Reorganization

Bihar was reduced slightly by the transfer of minor territories to West Bengal in 1956 under States Reorganisation Act, 1956.[2] Hence the constituencies were reduced from 330 in 1951 to 318 in 1957 elections.
