The Brasiliense Futebol Clube is a Brazilian football team, based in city of Taguatinga, in the Distrito Federal.
Brasiliense wears yellow uniforms, hence one of its supporters' associations is named Febre Amarela ("yellow fever"). Brasiliense is one of the few Brazilian teams to wear both yellow and green, which are the main colors of the national flag.
Brasiliense is one of the newest Brazilian soccer clubs, being founded in 2000. Its greatest rival is Gama.
History
The team was founded on August 1, 2000, by the businessman Luiz Estevão. He bought the team called Atlântida Futebol Clube of Taguatinga and renamed it Brasiliense Futebol Clube.[1]
In 2002, the club won the Brazilian Série C, and was promoted to the next year's second division, and finished as that season's Copa do Brasil runner-up.[2] In 2004, the club won the Brazilian Série B, and was promoted for the first time in history to the Brazilian Série A.[2] The club also won the state championship that year.[2] From 2004 to 2008, Brasiliense won five state championships in a row.[3] In 2005, the club finished in last position in the Série A, and was relegated to the next year's second division.[2]
