The British Wildlife Centre is located at Newchapel, near Lingfield in the county of Surrey. The centre was founded by David Mills in 1997, converting a former dairy farm into a centre to calibrate British Wildlife. Initially the centre was only open to pre-booked groups but then in 2000 it was opened to the general public.

The Animals

There are approximately 40 species of British wildlife kept at the centre.

Conservation

The British Wildlife Centre claims to educate and encourage others to participate in wildlife conservation activities and participate in captive breeding programmes.

Various animals are fed throughout the day, and regular keeper talks are held at these times. The talks are at approximately 30 minute intervals, with some of the morning talks being repeated in the afternoon.

Opening times

Opening times are restricted to weekends, school and public holidays (excluding Christmas). During school term time, the centre is closed to the general public in order to accommodate school visits, as well as specialist animal and photographic workshops.

The centre opens at 10am and closes at 5pm (Dec to Oct) or 10am to 4pm (Nov to Jan).
