Brownsville an unincorporated community in Yuba County, California. It lies at an elevation of 2313 feet (705 m) and has a population of 1,230. It is located 4.5 miles (7.2 km) east-northeast of Rackerby.[2] The place is named for I.E. Brown, sawmill owner.[2]
A post office was established at Brownsville in 1862.[2]
