Brussels Airlines' Liveries
This is a list of Brussels Airlines' liveries.
The Rackham livery[1]
On March 16, 2015, Brussels Airlines, in collaboration with Moulinsart, unveiled the special livery of their Airbus A320 (OO-SNB) based on the original drawings of Hergé and his Belgian cartoon character Tintin. The livery is a 37m long black shark based on Professor Calculus’ shark submarine from the Tintin adventure “Red Rackham’s Treasure”. On the fuselage “we fly you to the home of Tintin” can be spotted. The painting was executed by aircraft paint artist Andre Eisele and took 1500 man hours in total to finish. The inside of the plane includes scenes from “Red Rackham’s Treasure” showing Captain Haddock and Tintin. The original comic book of Tintin’s adventure “Red Rackham’s Treasure” is also available for passengers on board. This special Tintin livery will remain on the plane until 2019.[2] Rackham is one of the most photographed aircraft in the world
The Magritte livery[3]
On March 21, 2016, Brussels Airlines introduced its second special livery A320 (OO-SNC) dedicated to ‘Belgian Icons’. This time the company honors the Belgian surrealist painter Magritte and his oeuvre. The fact that René Magritte had close ties to the world of aviation and was intrigued by clouds and the sky lay the foundation for Brussels Airlines and the Magritte foundation[4] to dedicate a plane to his work. The result is an Airbus A320 depicting three paintings of René Magritte: La Belle Société (1965–66), La Clairvoyance (1936) en Le Retour (1940). On the fuselage we read “we fly you to the home of Magritte”. The Magritte livery will stay until 2022.
The Red Devils livery (Trident)[5]
In 2014, Brussels Airlines established a partnership with the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA), making Brussels Airlines the official airline of the Red Devils. During the World Cup 2014, Brussels Airlines flight SN2014 flew the Red Devils to São Paulo along with 150 supporters, on a plane specially redesigned for the occasion. For the 2016 UEFA European Championship in France, Brussels Airlines has created a fully painted livery on one of its Airbus A320 (OO-SNA). On April 4, 2016, Brussels Airlines unveiled this third plane dedicated to ‘Belgian Icons’ and baptized it “Trident” (OO-SNA). The outside of the plane is literally a Red Devil, with pictures of the players. The inside of the A320 includes pictures of 33 players and coaches Marc Wilmots and Vital Borkelmans on the overhead bins. As with the other two Belgian Icons planes, Trident dons the slogan “we fly you to the home of The Belgian Red Devils”. The livery will remain on the plane until 2020.
