BuyHatke.com is a price comparison portal for online shopping in India. According to Alexa Internet, it is among the top 700 websites in India.[2]

History

The idea to build a price comparison website was conceived by now founders Gaurav Dahake, Prashant Singh, Srikanth Sethumadhavan and Rohit Shah who were students at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. The Beta version of the website was launched in July 2012.[3]

Product and Services

BuyHatke

A price comparison portal that gives a price comparison between different websites offering the same product so that a consumer can decide which website is offering the lowest price.[3][4] The website also has a dedicated section for books.[5]

Comparehatke

CompareHatke is a browser add-on that the company launched. The add-on finds the optimal time to purchase products from various stores, automatically applies coupons, set price drop alerts, and provides price comparison for a plethora of shopping portals.[6][7][8][9][10]

Compare mobiles

Compare mobiles is a mobile research portal that helps consumers decide which mobile is the a better choice for them. The product does a specification by specification comparison for mobiles and explains the difference between the specifications in a comparative context.

Recognition

The venture won the judges' choice award for the top 5 student startups at the TATA First Dot, an organization that aims to showcase student entrepreneurs.[11] The venture has received media recognition from mainstream news media like TimesofIndia,[3] Thehindu,[12] Livemint,[13] Economic Times,[4] Startup news websites like Nextbigwhat[5][8][14] and Trak.in[7] have covered the venture.

Tech news sites like Techgig[15] and technology magazines like Thinkdigit[6] have covered the technology behind the venture. The founders have been interviewed with Coolage[16] and Geektech.[10] Mattermark a startup analysis firm from San Francisco compiled a list of top 10 startups in India and named BuyHatke in a tweet from its official Twitter profile.[17] Buyhatke was also awarded the second position in seedstars startup competition.[18]
