The last expansion that the shopping centre undertook was in 1997 with the addition of an expanded Woolworths Supermarket and an Action Supermarket. Basement parking was also included.

In 2007, Castletown completed an expansion project that included a new Target department store (replacing the existing store). The expansion also included an extra 40 specialty stores and a 450-seat food court. The expansion opened on 13 June 2007.

Construction commenced in mid-2009 on stage two of the expansion. New elevators, escalators and travelators, as well as major refurbishments of the toilets will be undertaken in the expansion. It is also anticipated that Woolworths will be upgraded. The development is due for completion in 2010, and will take the total number of specialty shops over 135 with the addition of two new mini major stores and Big W.
