History

Target at Centerpoint, opened in 2013 and closed in 2015

Centerpoint Mall was known as Towne and Countrye Square at its grand opening in the 1950s. In 1960, the mall began with anchors that were Sayvette, Miracle Mart, and Loblaws. The Sayvette chain went defunct in 1975 and was converted to Woolco. Woolco closed and the store and was converted to Supercentre. The Loblaws store was converted into Towers. The Towers store became a Zellers when Zellers purchased the Towers chain. The Zellers was closed in 2012 when Zellers was purchased by Target and the location was closed for about a year before reopening as Target on March 19, 2013. Since early 2015 when all Targets across Canada closed down that space has been vacant.[3]

With 635,121 square feet (59,004.7 m2) of retail space, it is one of the largest malls in Toronto.
