Chengdu Meishi International School (simplified Chinese: 成都美视国际学校; traditional Chinese: 成都美眡國際學校; pinyin: Chéngdū Měishì Guójì Xuéxiào is a school in Chengdu, China. Opened in 2002, the school offers American and Chinese curricula as well as the IB Diploma Programme. Located outside of the 3rd ring road south of Chengdu, the school is an authorized education provider for the U.S. State Department, Indian and French employees.
History
In fall 2000, a Chinese couple — Yang De-ming and Grace Chen Qi — who had been living in the United States for many years, came back to China to invest in and establish Chengdu Meishi International School. With full support from Meishi Group and the Chinese government, through almost two years of elaborate planning and hard work, a campus with a mixed design and style of the East and the West and with the state-of-the-art facilities, came into being. The school was officially opened on September 1, 2002. Thereafter, Chengdu Meishi International School ended up the history that there was not a true international school, which should be authorized by the Sichuan Provincial Government, in Chengdu.
The school is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Campus
The school has a Chinese division and International division which each have their own buildings. It also has a field and a sports centre with many sport items, a library which is shared by domestic and international divisions, a badminton court, a basketball court, soccer field, and dormitories.
Curriculum
Chengdu Meishi International School offers students choices of an American curriculum, Chinese curriculum, French national program, IB Diploma, and Advanced Placement (AP) Diploma for both Chinese and foreign students.
Extracurricular activities
Blacksmith, soccer, and basketball. Meishi has its own soccer and basketball teams which compete against other international schools. Primary division also has a yearly spelling bee and poetry slam. IB CAS program is scheduled for each quarter with different activities.
