History

Colney Heath Football Club was formed in 1907. Playing their home matches at Fuzzen Field, they competed in the Hatfield District League in the early years.[1] The Magpies then joined the Mid-Hertfordshire League, following the First World War.[1] After making the switch from Fuzzen Field to The Recreation Ground, the club joined Division Two of the Hertfordshire Senior County League in 1953. They won the league at the first attempt, completing the entire league season unbeaten.[2] Just two seasons later, Colney Heath won Division 1A and subsequently became champions of the Hertfordshire Senior County League.[2] The club then went on to win the Premier Division three years later in the 1958/59 campaign, losing only two matches.[3]

The Magpies spent the next forty one seasons in the Hertfordshire Senior County League, playing in all four divisions.[3] The 1999/00 season saw Colney Heath win the Premier Division for the second time and gain promotion to the Spartan South Midlands League. They were placed in the Senior Division, which was renamed Division One in 2001. After spending six seasons in the division, the club gained promotion to the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division in 2006 as Division One champions.[3]

In the 2010/11 campaign, Colney Heath reached the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. They defeated Broxbourne Borough and Clacton, before losing to Burnham in the First Qualifying Round. The Magpies achieved the same feat in the 2012/13 season. They defeated Wodson Park and Stotfold, before losing to Harefield United in the First Qualifying Round. The 2013/14 campaign saw the club reach the Third Round of the FA Vase. They defeated Kings Langley, Broadfields United, St. Margaretsbury and Newmarket Town, before losing a replay against Brightlingsea Regent in the Third Round. In the same season, Colney Heath achieved their highest ever league finish. They finished third in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.
