Cristóvão Borges dos Santos, or simply Cristóvão (born 9 June 1959 in Salvador, Bahia) is a former Brazilian football player at the position of Midfielder. Nowadays, he is an assistant manager of Ricardo Gomes in Vasco da Gama.[1]
Cristóvão played for Fluminense, Atlético-PR, Corinthians, Grêmio among other clubs, Cristóvão began his career in Bahia. He won titles with Fluminense shirt, Atlético-PR and Grêmio, and is currently assistant coach, a position he began his practice four years after retiring, his first experience was in Bangu in 1998. Cristóvão also played the 1989 Copa América.
In 2011, when Gomes went to Vasco da Gama, Cristóvão was to be his assistant. However, Ricardo Gomes suffered a stroke and far from the activities. Since then, Cristóvão took over as coach and gave the following good work by Gomes, he guided Vasco to the Copa Sudamericana semifinals and the 2nd place on 2011 Brazilian League.[2]
On 10 September 2012, Borges left Vasco after a lost for 4–0 against Bahia.[3]
