Cuba–United Kingdom relations

Cuba

United Kingdom

Cuba–United Kingdom relations refer to the bilateral relations between Cuba and the United Kingdom.

Trade

In 1964, Cuba ordered ten diesel-electric locomotives similar to the British Rail Class 47 from a British manufacturer.[1]

Near confrontation

Cuba and the United Kingdom had a near confrontation during the Falklands War in 1982. Fidel Castro offered military support for the Argentine military junta. This was rejected by the Argentine military government as they did not want to disrupt Cuban operations in the Angolan Civil War.
