Cuts of Guilt, Cuts Deeper is the second studio album by the trio of Japanese noise musician Merzbow, Hungarian drummer Balázs Pándi, and Swedish saxophonist Mats Gustafsson. It features guest musician Thurston Moore, guitarist in Sonic Youth.
It was recorded on April 13, 2014 at a skatepark / recording studio in Wembley, London, England. The next day, Merzbow, Pándi, and Gustafsson played a show at the Oval Space in London.[1][2]
Gustafsson and Merzbow had previously played together with Moore on the Sonic Youth album SYR8: Andre Sider Af Sonic Youth.
