DYHP or widely known as RMN Cebu is the first radio station that founded at the provinces of Central Visayas Region when it went on the air in September 14, 1963. The station was owned and operated by the Radio Mindanao Network in the Philippines. Its studios and offices are located at the RMN Broadcast Center, G/F Capitol Central Hotel & Suites, N. Escario St., cor. F. Ramos Ext., Capitol Site, Cebu City, and the transmitter is located at White Road, Brgy. Inayawan, Cebu City.
RMN Cebu operates every Monday to Saturday, 3:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and on Sundays from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM. During Holy Week of each year, the station's regular programming is pre-empted to give way by some special programs for religious shows, reflections and dramas (Maundy Thursday), and annually during Siete Palabras days (Good Friday) from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Exception its transmission on Black Saturday, and resumes broadcasting on Easter Sunday at 5:00 AM.
RMN Cebu provides news and information, public service, dramas, music and entertainment, its coverage reaches the whole of Cebu City, Cebu Province, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, and some parts of Northeastern and Southwestern parts of Cebu, even as far as Bohol, Negros Oriental (including in Dumaguete City), Negros Occidental, Siquijor, Leyte, Masbate, Romblon, Biliran Island, Zamboanga del Norte, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, Northern Mindanao Provinces and through the whole world via Ustream.
History
It began on September 14, 1963, DYHP is the first radio station in the provinces of Central Visayas, then associated with Philippines Herald in the past '60's. It was then broadcasting on the frequency of 900 kilocycles on the 1960s managed by Lorenzo A. Gabutina, a former Station Manager, Assistant VP AM Operations of Radio Mindanao Network (RMN). Later on, the station becomes clock of all listeners as a part of daily life.
At the 1960s decade, a cebuano drama production center based in DYHP-Cebu was established and subsequently followed by an Ilonggo drama production center based in DYHB-Bacolod in 1964. Among the former DYHP-Cebu talents in the past 70's, 80's, and 90's were Maam Susan Peres, Elma Bestil, Nelson Tantano, Teresa Diez, Esper Palicte, Janice Gemina, Debbie Santa Cruz, Carolyn Marquez, Wilma Silva and more. The rest are present casts from RMN Production Center (Cebu City) such as Mira Tumulak, Matet Cabudian, Baby Farida Salgado, Julian Bacus Daan, Allan Nacorda, Priscilla Raganas, Trifun Pie Morales, Direk Joel Bensi, Randy Suson, Joel Acedo, Rey Borres, Jojo Buron, Jennifer Miñoza, Ingrid Vertudazo, Cecille Cabrera, Jay Badayos, among others.
During the early 90's, DYHP-Cebu was also aired their programs via satellite thru the stations DYHD in Tagbilaran, DYRR in Ormoc, DYWC in Dumaguete, DYRS in San Carlos, DXDR in Dipolog and DXRS in Surigao.
Under the management, the station becomes "Radyo Mo Nationwide" in 2009, together with the other owned and operated stations and its affiliates under RMN. DYHP-Cebu was previously located at the 2/F Gold Palace Bldg., Osmeña Blvd., Cebu City.
In 2009, the transmitter site of DYHP-Cebu was moved from Alumnos, Brgy. Mambaling to its currently located at the White Road, Brgy. Inayawan commissioned its transmitting power of 10,000 watts making it the most powerful station in the Central Visayas Region.
On May 26, 2012, DYHP-Cebu (together with its sister station, 93.9 iFM Cebu) finally moved to its new offices and studios located at the G/F Professional Group Center, N. Escario St., cor. F. Ramos Ext., Capitol Site, Cebu City, while the Production Centers are also moved to relocate at the Room 302, 3/F Jose R. Martinez Bldg., Osmeña Blvd., Cebu City for the most supplying drama programming to all cebuano-speaking from the other RMN Stations in Visayas and Mindanao (except for Gabayan sa Kaayohan and Paglaum Human sa Kapaitan which are the blocktime radio dramas only in Cebu City listeners).
DYHP-Cebu closely its competed in radio broadcasting as leading and number one AM radio station in Metro Cebu and Central Visayas Region during its entry in the city in the early 1990s decade. On September 12, 2015, DYHP-Cebu celebrated its 52nd anniversary.
