Dissidia Final Fantasy (Japanese: ディシディア ファイナルファンタジー Hepburn: Dishidia Fainaru Fantajī) is an arcade game developed by Team Ninja and published by Square Enix. It was announced during the Japan Amusement Expo (JAEPO) trade show in Chiba, Japan on February 14, 2015.[1] The game is based on Dissidia Final Fantasy and Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, released for PlayStation Portable, but instead is a reboot, rather than a continuation of the previous Dissidia games' storyline.[2] The game was released in Japanese arcades on November 26, 2015, and a PlayStation 4 version is possible for a later date.[3]

Gameplay

Compared to its predecessors, the game's battle system was remade from the ground up. New to the game is the three-on-three combat feature. At launch, the game included all 13 main heroes from the previous Dissidia titles and new character Y’shtola. However, the developers plan to add additional characters via updates, such as Ramza Beoulve,[4] targeting a total roster of 50 characters.

Development

In a press conference on April 10, 2015, Sony Computer Entertainment president Atsushi Morita revealed that the game was developed with the core technology of the PlayStation 4. Square Enix said that they wanted to release it for arcades first and the console version would not be available until at least a year after the launch of the arcade version.[5]
