Dynamite! is the second studio album released by the duo Ike & Tina Turner on the Sue Records label in 1963.
Overview
Recorded during a busy touring schedule, several of the songs were culled from 1961 and 1962 sessions and released in early 1963. The cover shows the couple in different moods with Ike Turner looking moody and Tina Turner posing with a mink coat posing in a suggestive way that was started to build within Tina Turner's stage act. By now, the original members of the Artettes had their name changed to The Ikettes and continued to record with Ike & Tina on this record. Much like many rock 'n' roll/R&B albums at the time, most of the albums included a hit single or minor hit single and supported by more filler tracks.
Several charted singles came off these sessions including "Poor Fool", "You Should've Treated Me Right" and "Tra La La La" and the duo's second biggest-selling single at the time, the Grammy-nominated, "It's Gonna Work Out Fine". Ike & Tina have one duet on the song, the pop-soul ballad, "Won't You Forgive Me", contrasting Ike Turner's baritone vocals and Tina Turner's soprano delivery. While Ike stepped out, Mickey Baker subbed on "It's Gonna Work Out Fine" on guitar and vocal. In the original album, some of the songs from the duo's debut album, The Soul of Ike & Tina Turner, were featured on this album to bide time. Unlike earlier pressings, the track "Letter From Tina" is heard in its entirety on this album. Ike & Tina would record one more album for Sue Records (Don't Play Me Cheap) before leaving the label and signing with several more labels which would become a habit as the sixties dragged on.
