Estadio Campeón del Siglo
Estadio Campeón del Siglo is a football stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay. It will be hosting most of the matches of Peñarol. The stadium can hold up to 43,000 people.[1][2] The name of the stadium was originally intended as Estadio CA Peñarol, but was later changed to "Campeón del Siglo" as a provocation towards their hated local rivals Nacional. The name refers to an unofficial award that internet blog IFFHS gave the team in 2010, eventhough a official "Champion of the Century" award was already awarded to Real Madrid in 2000 by FIFA, which does not recognize IFFHS titles. The stadium marks the first official stadium by Peñarol since the club's founding in December 1913. In March 2016, a 18-yearold fan of Nacional, Pablo Montiel, was murdered by fans of Peñarol after walking nearby the stadium; the murder was celebrated by club staff member Ignacio Ruglio and by fans singing about his murder in Peñarol's following match against local team Racing de Montevideo.
